Screaming Errors In The Grauniad

Many thanks to the website Regret The Error which publishes newspaper corrections and bloopers for highlighting the following:

“The Scream … is one of the most famous paintings in the world, and the stolen canvass is one of four versions” (page 19, yesterday). Canvas: the material on which artists paint. Canvass: to solicit votes.Guardian Corrections and Clarifications,Sep 2 2006

… but that’s not all. The correction itself then needed a kind of a correction …

A correction, page 34, September 2, correcting the spelling of canvas, in a report about Munch’s painting The Scream, was, it turns out, academic. The painting is on cardboard.Guardian Corrections and Clarifications, Sep 5 2006

But do stop off at Regret The Error for a closer look.
