Your Country Needs You
… to tell your government that you don’t want hundreds of thousands of pounds of taxpayers money being spent on websites which don’t meet the basic specifications they were asked to meet — and in order to bring them up to speed, more of our public money will need to be spent.
It’s your money, and presently government agencies are procuring websites at great expense that don’t comply with the accessibility requirements that the EU think should be mandatory.
Do you think that public sector sites should be usable by disabled people? Do you think that governmental sites should be expected to comply to the same standards that they expect the rest of public sector sites to comply with? Are you a UK resident? If so, sign the petition.
Hello. I am
Jack found you via the accessify forum. and to paraphrase you “I am passionate about web accessibility, web standards, Newcastle United, good quality beer, and my wife and children, although not necessarily in that order” - Ain’t it a small world
I’ve signed up and also posted something on the forum about the petition. I’ve mentioned this to a few people who work in the government sector. So far none have signed up. A couple have said it is tricky given the fact that they work for the government. It really makes me worry about the state of affairs if people really feel as though they cannot speak against the “party line”.
It’s been Dugg digg it here
