…doncha just think that he’s the sort of person who, if called up for jury service, would be found guilty?

But seriously, he’s dragged my club into enough mud now. The roll-call of ‘Barton incidents’ is frightening. First up is the one he’s just pleaded guilty to — the day the trial was due to start.

…The 25-year-old repeatedly punched Dabo [Ed: then a Manchester City team mate] as he lay dazed on the ground…BBC News

…in a 2005 pre-season “friendly”, sparked a mass brawl in a game against Doncaster…

…A Christmas bash for Man City players that December saw him stub a lit cigar into the eye of young team-mate Jamie Tandy…

The Independent

…In May 2005 he broke the leg of a 35-year-old pedestrian while driving his car at 2am in Liverpool city centre and the following month was involved in a spat with a 15-year-old Everton fan at City’s team hotel in Bangkok…The Sunday Sun

Barton sat out Newcastle’s Boxing Day game last year as he was injured, but went drinking in Liverpool city centre afterwards. In the early hours of 27 December he got into a row in a McDonald’s and violence again broke out. Drunk, Barton straddled his victim, punching him repeatedly in the face. The Independent (again)

No more. I don’t want you at my club.

@mark, true – and since the December incident of last year (the one he went to jail for), he’s supposedly been a changed man, with what he’s been doing at the Sporting Chance clinic.

But I still think he’s a fight waiting to happen…
