WCAG 2.0 Nearly There

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 was published as a W3C Proposed Recommendation on 3 November 2008. This means that the technical material of WCAG 2.0 is complete and it has been implemented in real sites. The next stage is the final publication, which is expected in December 2008.Web Accessibility Initiative

This is not yet an official internet standard — that will be when it becomes an official recommendation (when the Proposed Recommendation is endorsed by the members of the W3C). However, it is not expected to change between now and then, it is expected that it will become formally recommended next month, and the Web Accessibility Initiative are encouraging people to start implementing WCAG 2.0 now.

So if you’ve been putting off looking at WCAG 2.0 because you thought they would never get round to it being a formal recommendation, you’d better start looking at it now. There’s a link in my ‘resources’ section. Go on…
