The April Fools Collection
I’ve always liked April Fools news stories. The best ones are the ones which seem vaguely plausible, at least until you’re halfway into the article, so you’re halfway through reading them before you start asking yourself “wait, what’s today’s date again?”. I remember a great one from the Evening Chronicle about Durham signing Loof Lirpa, the ‘David Beckham of Scandinavian Cricket’ who played in the Norwegian Indoor League
So when it was announced this morning Alan Shearer was taking over as Newcastle manager until the end of the season, I was a little suspicious (although this one appears to be true). A collection of stories which ran today as April Fools…
