I however wanted my own domain and hosting because I want the opportunity to do things in other scripting languages, have my own database connections and so on. And you're right (again!), I could have advertising, use affiliate programs and so on. As it happens, I am an amazon affiliate but I don't like the idea of having google adwords (or similar) on my site - although I would certainly be prepared to consider sponsorship. Michael,
