Tony Blair is a Newcastle fan, and when he was Prime Minister, we weren't doing too badly. Perhaps he was involved in behind-the-scenes manipulation of events? Or maybe he was just a quality left-winger* who turned out for Newcastle in disguise and kept them up? *on second thoughts, maybe not on the left wing... ah, no, I don’t believe he did, but arguably you might have hit on something.
