WordPress 2: Just how long does it take to get started?
Er… not that long, actually. They refer to the famous ‘five minute install’ and while I didn’t achieve it in quite that time – mostly due to my repeated panic at not knowing anything about MySQL, let alone how to create a database and configure another system to post to it. But I asked my hosting company for advice. And they didn’t let me down. Note for the people at Titan - you’ll still be getting a mention on the redesign somewhere.
But there’s the whole figuring out wordpress thing to do first. Plus I need to tell everyone about The Wiggles. No, really. And then I need to get the whole Frankie & Benny’s thing off my chest. But finding out how to work my own website seems like a reasonable starting point, don’t it?

I used WordPress on our family site and I would rename it the \’twenty minute installation including some swearing\’. It\’s still easier to grasp than Textpattern, which is the \’three day installation including swearing, screaming and several stiff G&Ts\’.
I used this theme too – now if you really want a headache try making changes to it.

Aha. No you didn’t. You used the theme I was using the other night: the ‘connections’ theme. I’m now using a variant of Mike Cherim’s SeaBeast theme (as in, I’ve started with the Seabeast and buggered around with it), following Mike’s instructions as far as possible.
