DHMO: The Facts
For those of you, like me, who care passionately about the environment and worry about the damage we’re doing to the world, you may already be aware of the dangers posed by Di-Hydrogen Monoxide (DHMO). If you aren’t already aware of the facts about this global scourge, take a glance at this excerpt from DHMO.org:
Each year, Dihydrogen Monoxide is a known causative component in many thousands of deaths and is a major contributor to millions upon millions of dollars in damage to property and the environment. Some of the known perils of Dihydrogen Monoxide are:
- Death due to accidental inhalation of DHMO, even in small quantities
- Prolonged exposure to solid DHMO causes severe tissue damage
- DHMO is a major component of acid rain
- Gaseous DHMO can cause severe burns
- Found in biopsies of pre-cancerous tumors and lesions
And of course that is just some of the dangers associated with DHMO — the official site lists a total of 12 dangers associated with DHMO; UK statistics show that DHMO is considered to be the sole official cause of death for almost 500 people in the UK every year. Despite which, governments around the world are, as usual, too concerned about the “economic benefits” to ban it:
Despite the known dangers of DHMO, it continues to be used daily by industry, government, and even in private homes…
- as an industrial solvent and coolant
- in nuclear power plants
- in biological and chemical weapons manufacture
- in the development of genetically engineering crops and animals
- in pesticide production and distribution
- as an additive to food products, including jarred baby food and baby formula, and even in many soups, carbonated beverages and supposedly “all-natural” fruit juices
- in spray-on oven cleaners
…Studies have shown that even after careful washing, food and produce that has been contaminated by DHMO remains tainted by DHMO.
Despite this, it is still perfectly legal in the UK for industrial companies who use DHMO to simply dump waste DHMO into our rivers and oceans, and indeed there are few — if any — places in the UK that are entirely free from DHMO contamination.
The time has come for all right thinking people to react to DHMO appropriately and treat this with the seriousness it deserves: visit DHMO.org and find out what you should do.
DHMO isn’t going to go away.

Well, I’ve been encouraged by the fact that many local areas bring in temporary bans to prevent people spraying it on their gardens in summer, when it is at its most volatile and most likely to disperse into the atmosphere — the next step would be to extend this to a national, all-year-round ban…
