JackP for Capello’s assistant manager?

Paul Ince has said there is “absolutely no chance” of him working under new England manager Fabio Capello.Daily Express

Sorry Paul — I didn’t think anyone had actually asked you…

But then again, I was always of a belief that players and managers had to earn respect. You don’t get called “The Guv’nor” simply because you want to be. You only get to be called “The Guv’nor” if fans and team mates think you’ve got an over-inflated sense of your own self importance, and want to take the piss out of you in a way you won’t ever realise because of your over-inflated ego… ah, wait a minute…

I think ethnic minorities are under-represented as managers, and particularly so in the top flight. I’d love to see that change. But hopefully with someone I actually have respect for…

And here we’re talking about someone who wasn’t as good as he thought he was as a player, is relatively unproven as a manager, and is saying he doesn’t want to play second-fiddle to anyone else, even if it would help his country out?

Sorry Paul, I’d presumed you to be a patriot: but if your own self-importance is more important to you than being willing to contribute all you can to make England’s national team a success, then I think they’d be better off with me
