The Devil no longer has all the best tunes.

Cesare Bonizzi looks like the archetypal Capuchin monk — round-faced, stout, with twinkling eyes and a long flowing white beard. But beneath his robes beats a heart of metal.[...] The 62-year-old monk’s love affair with heavy metal began when he attended a Metallica concert some 15 years ago.BBC News

He’s certainly got the voice for it. “Brother Metal”, as he is sometimes known reminds me of an ageing James Hetfield — wearing a robe. Don’t mess with the monk.

I think you meant to link to http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7513571.stm

Don’t care much for his music, but he sounds like a top bloke (from the BBC clip):b”I want to convert people to living life to the full. I am religious and I am a priest. I believe in it and I put my whole life into it, but I don’t play to draw people closer to Christ, to the church or to religion. I do it to convert people to life, to understand life, full stop”.

Why can’t WE have a few christians like that?

@Chris — what do you mean? I did link there. Honest. *ahem*.

Yeah, I liked that idea too: about wanting to convert people “to love life” rather than anything else.

And Chris, we probably do have some — but unless they are singers in rock bands, or full on religious nutjobs, they won’t get publicised anywhere. The ones preaching tolerance and compassion aren’t newsworthy; only those preaching intolerance and bigotry interest the press…
