Pornographic Sweets For Kids
Just in case you missed this one — and you probably did — I thought it was worth bringing to your attention because it is the sort of thing that you really shouldn’t miss. Basically, a company who manufacture sweets for children have taken to putting explicit pornography on the sweet wrappers.
At least, that’s what Mr. Simkins of Pontefract appears to believe, according to the Daily Mail, when he appeared to get quite agitated about the fruits used to illustrate the display:
Mr Simpkins, of Pontefract, West Yorkshire, said: ‘The lemon and lime are locked in what appears to be a carnal encounter. The lime, whom I assume to be the gentleman in this coupling, has a particularly lurid expression on his face.’
He said: ‘I demanded to see the shop manager and, during a heated exchange, my wife became quite distressed and had to sit down in the car park.’
Now I don’t know exactly why Mr Simpkins’ wife became distressed, but from my straw poll of people I know, the most likely reason given wasn’t “bloody hell! there’s porn on the kids sweets” but was more along the lines of “bloody hell! he’s off again!”.
I have to admit that once you have viewed some of the MAOAM sweeties looking for them to be explicitly pornographic, you can see what he was talking about — if you’re in that frame of mind they certainly do appear suggestive, but I wouldn’t exactly class it as pornography.
Although I do have to say that the Lemon one, as featured in the Daily Mail article does look worse than the other ones, particularly when erm… enlarged to greater than its normal size. But really, if you’re getting offended by slightly suggestive wrappers on packets of sweets, you’re going to need to keep your eyes closed most of the time you’re out there in the big wide world…
