WCAG 2.0 development
I have been prompted by someone to republish some articles I previously wrote about WCAG 2.0. Well, I’m not going to do this, on the basis that I’ve not ‘un-published’ them, so you can still find them via my site search or via google.
However, for those of who who want a little potted history of what I’ve actually written about WCAG 2.0 so far, with nice easy links to make it all easy to find, here goes.
The Early Phase — 2006
This was back when I was very critical of WCAG 2.0, the documentation, the way they were going about things, and basically everything else. Looking back at some of the documentation, it’s surprising to me how scathing I actually was; there didn’t seem to be very much I liked about it at all.

Mid Phase — 2007
This was probably the phase that saw me change from someone who was critical of WCAG 2.0 through to someone who — when they published a new version — still thought that it wasn’t yet ready, but that it was now better than WCAG 1.0.

Late Phase — 2008
By this stage I was convinced WCAG 2.0 was better than WCAG 1.0, that formal adoption of WCAG 2.0 by bodies which require standards (Government agencies and the like) would be very much a good thing, and indeed the sooner the better. At this point I was starting to tell everyone how much better WCAG 2.0 was than WCAG 1.0: it’s more user-centric, as opposed to technology-centric.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is it. Well, for now. I’ll have to have a proper look at the WCAG 2.0 “final” documentation and re-hash some of my earlier work, but there you have it. One of the things which does strike me about it is “by Gum! Haven’t I spent a lot of time looking at WCAG 2.0?”
